Biographie

En 2002, Atreyu émerge d'Orange County. Auparavant inconnue, la formation lance son premier album intitulé « Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses » chez Victory Records qui attire l'attention de nombreux observateurs de la sphère punk et hardcore.

Le groupe se démarque en détruisant les barrières qui séparent le rock, du hardcore mélodique et du métal. Les critiques positives affluent de partout, du LA Times, du magazine Guitar World et de nombreuses autres publications.

Le disque s'écoule à près de 100 000 exemplaires, ce qui est pas mal pour une bande de jeunes inconnus. Le groupe se fait à nouveau remarquer et s'impose comme une force montante en 2004 avec l'album « The Curse » qui choque autant pour son contenu que pour la pochette troublante.

Le quintet sort un EP nommé Visions en 1998 et un autre nommé Fractures in the Facade of Your Porcelain Beauty en 2001. Suivra ensuite leur premier album Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses en 2002. Par la suite, Marc McKnight remplacera Chris Thomson à la basse. Après la sortie de The Curse, Atreyu a par la suite entamé une tournée aux côtés de Deftones et Thrice, lors du Taste of Chaos en 2005.En 2007 ils signent chez Roadrunner et sortent Lead Sails Paper Anchor.
